Montreal & 26th Birthday

For my birthday this year Robin took me to Montreal. Surprisingly I had never been there (odd since it's like a right-of-passage for all Ottawa teens to go there to party). It was brutally cold (I'm talking minus 40 cold!) and I had caught a horrible cold (I'm talking laryngitis) but we still made the most of it and tried to soak in as much of the city as possible.

A necessity when visiting Montreal, poutine!

We strolled around Old Montreal at night and saw the Palais des congrès de Montréal, Notre-Dame Basilica, Chinatown and Nelson's Column.
It was really (really) cold but still nice to walk around while the streets were empty.

On the day of my birthday we went for coffees then brunch at Lawrence (as a recommendation by a friend) where we sipped on mimosas and enjoyed an unbelievable meal! I still have flashbacks to how great our meals were! I wish we could have sat and ate there all day but it was a busy spot (I can see why) and we had shopping to do!

We did some driving through Old Montreal to see some of the architecture and stay warm.
And we stumbled upon some fun installations.

That night we toasted champagne by the hotel fire then walked over to Barroco for dinner and had another amazing meal. It was a great birthday exploring a new city and enjoying great conversations, meals and champagne.
