Christie - Portrait Session

Christie is one of those people who is so motivated that you can't help but feel a bit lazy in comparison. She's that person who has accomplished more by the time you wake up and even more after you've gone to bed. She is a self-starter, hard worker, highly motivated and determined. At the same time though, she is as sweet and humble as they come and she's a great friend. She's started her own business (and is killing it) and needed some updated photos so we spent an evening playing with shots and letting her internal model shine through.

Bermuda

Back in the day, the Mr and I went to Bermuda as our second trip together. We went for a five-day long weekend to relax and explore the beautiful pink-sand beaches. We were drawn to Bermuda because we both wanted a mini-getaway that wasn't too pricey but also wasn't the typical all-inclusive Caribbean trip. While the flights to Bermuda are super cheap, once you're on the island that's a whole other story. We were lucky to find that my now father-in-law had an old Cricket buddy who opened a bed and breakfast type condo in Bermuda so we were able to stay there for a great price. It came with it's own kitchenette and private pool(!) and was steps to the most beautiful beach I've ever seen, Horseshoe Bay. We rented a scooter while there as that's the main way to get around the island (you're not allowed to rent a car as they're trying to reduce traffic on the island - and you really wouldn't need it considering there's one highway and you can drive the whole island in six hours).

The trip was the perfect balance of relaxing and exploring. We took the scooter to the caves in St. George, walked through the capital, Hamilton, partied in Sandy's Parish with the cruise-goers, and relaxed on the beaches along the south coast. All-in-all it was a great trip with even better company and was just the beginning of our travel adventures together.

Out and About - Soaking up some Culture in Ottawa

I took a trip to Ottawa to spend some time with my parents the other weekend. My mom and I made a point to see the iceberg scaffolding covering the National Gallery (if you haven't heard of it, there's a really cool video of it being put up here). It's "melting" at the moment as they finish repairing the glass panels so I wasn't able to get shots of it fully covered but it's still really cool to see We also went to the Museum of Nature to see the Edward Burtynsky exhibit (one I highly recommend seeing). I hadn't been there since the days when I owned a New Kids on the Block knapsack so it was great to see the renovations they've made to the museum - one that included a glass box protruding out the front of the building housing a whale. Needless to say, it made for some interesting photos. We finished off the day with some beers and food on a patio along Elgin Street then took a stroll along the canal.
